Withdrawing Room:
Act 1 of the narrative in the Sumu room. Opening with a scene in a Victorian/Edwardian withdrawing room – and traces of a man and a woman who live there, and how they live. Slightly decadent, slightly ‘proper’, slightly mixed up in time, slightly reflective. Posessions, artefacts, memorabelia, living.
(projected) video loop: Abridged (Paris, live recording of daily life going across hydraulic canal bridge), untitled (a beginning to a new arts-science collaboration with Liisa Puhakka, Dept Biology, Turku – sounds recorded during 2 walks – along frozen river to frozen sea, near Ii; and in the Amazon Rainforest, Peru)), Hydro Ii (hydro station/dam releasing river water Spring 2011 & sound improvisation using pyykinkuivausteline and vibrating devices – 2011) & Iin Transit (bus journey from Ii towards Oulu with kantele improvisation; 2011)
Ambient sounds: quiet clocks in the room, with recordings from the pianothon (improvisations on local pianos in Turku Oct 11th 2012 – in homes, shops, library and Aboa Vetus museum)
